Today Another Stair-Less Workout – and Diet

Today I woke up and had a 3/4 bowl of muesli mix with 4/5ths of a box of vegetarian soy milk on it. After the night before I needed something tangible!

For lunch I had 2 big apples.

For dinner I just had a plate of stir fried vegetables in a salty soy sauce. I had none of the sauce, but it flavored the veggies quite well. No rice. Nothing else.

At home I had some coffee, some water, and then got a wicked craving for something, well, tangible. Lol. I had about 2/3 a cup of rice – with soy sauce for flavor.

So that was today – I probably cracked the 1,000 calorie level today. That’s the first time in a week or so. I’m OK with that.

I did exercise – 3 fast walking laps around the river park. I did some looking at pace. If I can do 3 steps per second, I can be tops at the race in Bangkok. That’s a fast pace up steps. Pretty fast when running too. I’ll have to practice pacing on the stairs next time I get over there. Right knee is hurting some, and definitely better to keep walking and give it a rest off coming down those stairs.

I did some upside down reverse pushups today at the parallel bars – 38 in total. It seems like my back isn’t strong at all anymore. It’s bizarre to see just how weak my upper body has become. It’s traumatic to think about too! My upper-body was SO strong in the past… oh well, right? That’s what years of inactivity for upper-body does to me. Once I get back up to par I’ll be flying up the steps.

I got a call from Alfred – the stair climbing, walking legend today. He’s back from his New Years Shenanigans and has some kind of cyst in his hand he’ll get lanced. Ouch. He’ll be back on the mountains staircase tomorrow he said. I’ll miss him that time, maybe hook up with him over the weekend.

How about you? Anything you’re doing – on the stairs or off that you want to tell us about?

Are you cross-training? What are you doing? What stair-climb is next for you?
