In 2012 the Baiyoke Run Up at the Bangkok Baiyoke Sky Tower is scheduled to happen on February 19th (Sunday). This is one month earlier than last year, and, as of today – is just 19 days away. Sometime in April is the latest date the run up is said to be happening. It’s a crapshoot if anybody is going to actually make it to this race because the information coming out of the hotel is either – nonexistent, or, wrong. There is no information on their hotel website about this, nor is there any information on their Twitter or Facebook accounts about the race. We just received a response about the race through the FB messaging system.
If you call the information number below – and push 3 for English help you will find that the girl (same girl last 3 times I called) cannot speak English at all and will just say – can you repeat that? Can I help you? Can you repeat that? She does not speak English well enough for me to even get the point across that I want information about the race.
So, I don’t know what to say other than – the Baiyoke Run Up is poorly managed, and the idea that you have to go there and physically register to do the race before it starts on the 19th – means that online registration is not available at all. Nobody outside of Bangkok will be able to assure themselves they are registered – or be able to plan on anything at all with 19 days notice. There is no registration form available online. There is nobody we can speak to in English that knows anything about the race.
We’ll likely write this race off – and not attend. What a poor state of affairs it is when one of the only 2 stair climbing events (races) in the country – is not managed well.

When that number is called a girl there who THANKFULLY speaks some English said… go to ThailandOneDayTour.com and download the registration form for the race, fill it out and fax it in.
I went there. The banner on the right says Baiyoke 2012 Run Up – but, the pages after you click the link – are all from 2011. The registration form DOES NOT WORK. There are bank accounts to send money to by transfer, and fax numbers to fax your form to for registration. But, again – you cannot fax the form because the PDF file – doesn’t work.
Anyone have a blank PDF from 2011 for registering for this Baiyoke Sky Hotel Tower Run up?
Ok, wait – I found their 2010 Registration form.
I called them again… they have not confirmed all the information about the race yet for 2012. They will post it on their website when it’s ready.
YOU CANNOT REGISTER ON RACE MORNING – the girl said, there is no registration for the race the day of the race.
What that means is – the window to register at all for a race that may or may not even happen – is impossible. Lol. Welcome to Thailand…
