Last 3 Workouts = 7 Times Up 1,256 Steps

Today I did 3 trips up the stairs in 15:20, 16:21, and 19:32. Nothing fast – just wanted to do three climbs in the heat of the day – at 2:30pm, when the sun is still hitting the steps. It was about 91 degrees F today and again – no wind at all. Man these windless days are killer. The heat is always there, but during the Thailand summer – the wind is non-existent. That hurts a lot.

I sweat like a horse today – but had a great time doing it. The real reward is knocking down a GIANT plate of homemade spaghetti my wife cooked up – she can REALLY cook too!

I smothered it in parmesan cheese… oh wow. Anyway…

The last two workouts were:

18th March – 2 trips up the steps – first trip fast at 13:10, and second at 15:28. I was wasted on this. I did some running at the park afterward – a few hours later.

20th March – 2 trip up the steps – both pretty fast – under 14 minutes, but I don’t have the time any more – didn’t write it down.

So some good workouts, just trying to get a base back for climbing since these hemmorhoids stalled me for so long. I don’t even feel like I should do the race in Bangkok on April 1st – I think no point. I’ve done so little speed / sprint work that it would be a repeat of the Banyan Tree Race where I place about 7th, but the Baiyoke race 4/1 has the 12+ floors of parking garage ramps to run up also. I’ve not run up any hills in preparation either.

I like to be prepared for races – because in my mind there is no point racing for fun. I could enter all kinds of races for fun that I wasn’t prepared for… but it’s no fun. You know what I’m saying? lol.

Ok then – more coming.

Calorie count today – about 1,900 – including the two Beerlao’s I’ll have in about 40 minutes.

Calories burned on the stairs – I’ll say about 1,300. Probably 1,100 climbing and 200 coming back down the 3,768 steps. Probably I’m underestimating… I do that on purpose.

Cheers!

Vern
