Today was a glorious day. You know how when you haven’t worked out hard for 2 weeks and you’re just DYING to? Well, get a hemmorhoid and that is exactly what you’ll be going through. Mine has abated… at least the pain is gone. I still have my little friend down there, I’ve named him “Ian” because I always thought that was the corniest name ever – and I’m named “Vern” – so, that gives you an idea how corny I think Ian is.
Anyway, the workout…
I hit the outdoor stairs at the Buddhist temple – 1,256 steps averaging 8.8 inches. It was very hot. Very humid. No wind. I didn’t care, I was finally pain free and ready to GO.
I walked up to the top fast – 13:30. It felt great. I wanted to sprint multiple times but kept my pants on about it. I got to the top, breathed hard for a minute and walked (jogged) down to step 840.
From there I turned around and ran up by 2 steps to 925. The steps aren’t that big or steep – just perfect for running up. I turned around and walked, then jogged down to step 840 again. Repeat x6 total.
Wasted, I walked fast down the mountain and was looking forward to taking baby girl to the park at the river when she woke up from her afternoon nap.
Why?
I knew I’d get to run around the park for the first time in 2 weeks too!
We got there at 5pm. Wifey arrived at 5:30. I began running around. I did 3 laps running and then walked some, sprinted 300 meters (85% effort) and then walked some. Sprinted again, walked some, jogged some, sprinted again. I did 6 long sprints and jogged the rest. Total – 5 laps around the 1.1km park. A great time, and I cooked myself well-done.
I’m completely beat. Dinner was light… I had a cup of rice, vegetables and some curry stuff I cannot pronounce.
Will see about a beer tonight. It’s Friday!
Tomorrow is going to be a stiff day with minimal activity – just a lot of work on the computer. I’ll love every bit of the dull pain that comes the day after an excessive workout.
I don’t remember the last time I went 2 weeks without working out hard… it has been years. I think 5 years.
Not something I want to repeat. No more Ians!
